Camden Scott Riviere was born May 20, 1986 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was raised in Aiken, South Carolina. At age 5, he began playing tennis with his grandfather Hank and father Rhett. He won his first tournament at age 7. Camden was first coached by Mark Devine, an Aiken professional at the time. Camden was a junior on the American Junior Squads, including the Clothier Cup and Van Alen teams. Camden was a top-level amateur in his teens, winning tournaments such as the US Amateur or the Tuxedo Gold Racquet. Camden was also a member of the Bathurst Cup Team for the United States.

He became world champion on May 21, 2016, defeating long-time holder Robert Fahey 7 sets to 2 at Riviere’s home court, the National Tennis Club, Newport, Rhode Island.
