Carl Klingberg is one of the most popular and richest Ice Hockey Player who was born on January 28, 1991 in Gothenburg, Västra Götaland, Sweden. Klingberg scored against Karri Ramo, Calgary Flames’ first NHL goal, on April 11, 2014.
In the 2014–15 season, Klingberg was unable to solidify a roster spot with the Jets and on 1 March 2015, he was traded to the New York Rangers for Forward Lee Stempniak. Klingberg was assigned to the Rangers’ AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack for the remainder of the season. He contributed offensively with 11 points in 13 games.
Klinberg was selected to play for Team Sweden at the 2018 Winter Olympics. He competed in one game and Sweden finished in 5th place.
The Thrashers were sold in the off-season and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where they became the Winnipeg Jets’ second team. Klingberg’s goal for the NHL season was to join the Jets, but he was assigned to the Jets’ AHL affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps on September 30th. Klingberg scored in the IceCaps’ 4-1 victory against the Providence Bruins. Klingberg scored the IceCaps’ first goal at home, along with two more in their 6-2 victory against the Hamilton Bulldogs. He also scored two goals in their 4-3 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to complete the season with six goals in six matches. Klingberg had scored nine goals and 16 point in 20 games. He was then called up to play six games in the NHL for the Jets before being reassigned to the IceCaps after Antti Miettinen, a forward, was acquired off waivers.
Klingberg made his debut during the 2008-09 Swedish top-tier SHL League for Frolunda HC. The Atlanta Thrashers drafted him in the 34th round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Klingberg was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the second round, 34th overall. He had finished the 2010-11 season playing with Timra. Klingberg made his AHL debut against the Oklahoma City Barons on March 19, scoring his first goal against the Rockford Icehogs on March 27. Klingberg was summoned by the Thrashers to make a NHL debut against the Pittsburgh Penguins in their final game of the season.
Without featuring for the Rangers, Klingberg as an impending restricted free agent signed a one-year contract with Russian-based, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the KHL on 21 June 2015. Following the 2015-16 season, he moved on to Switzerland, joining EV Zug of the National League A (NLA) on a one-year deal on 30 June 2016. On 8 October 2016, Klingberg was suspended for one game and fined CHF 1,230 for a hit to the head of EHC Kloten’s Matthias Bieber. On 9 January 2017, Klingberg was once again suspended for one game by the SIHF and fined CHF 1,230 for a slew-footing on HC Ambrì-Piotta’s Janne Pesonen. On 2 May 2017, Klingberg agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Bulls. On May 21, 2019, Klingberg was signed to a two-year contract extension by Zug.
