He was in Major League Baseball as a left-handed pitcher between 1970 and 1978, notably as a part of the Cincinnati Reds dynasty that won four National League pennants and two World Series championships between 1970 and 1976. Don Gullett is one of the most popular and richest American baseball player who was born on January 6, 1951 in Lynn, Massachusetts, United States. Gullett was a player for the Reds throughout their 1976 championship season. In November of the year as a free agent and a free agent, he was signed by the New York Yankees. He had a 14-4 record for the Yankees in 1977, however shoulder injuries in 1978 brought that the beginning of the last chapter in his playing career.
In 1989, Gullett played for the St. Lucie Legends of the Senior Professional Baseball Association.
In 1993, he rejoined the Reds as pitching coach, a post he held until being ousted mid-season in 2005.

He was a relief pitcher for starter Ray Washburn, Gullett debuted on April 10, 1970 playing on the road to face the San Francisco Giants. Gullett made a great debut season, playing for 44 times (42 as relief) having a record of 5-5 and an impressive 2.43 earned-run average. When he was in the World Series against the Baltimore Orioles, Gullett pitched 6 3 innings and gave up just one run earned (1.35 earned run rate) in the game. He as well as experienced Clay Carroll helped keep an injured pitching team during the game.

As a high school pitcher, he once tossed a perfect game—including striking out 20 of the 21 hitters he faced. Gullett excelled as a high school football player as well once scoring 72 points in a single game. He ran for 11 touchdowns and kicked 6 extra points. He was named all state in three sports his senior year (baseball, football, basketball).
