Georges Hobeika (born 8 February 1962 from Baskinta) is an Lebanese fashion designer, specializing in Haute couture and ready-to wear clothing. Hobeika inaugurated his boutique at Beirut, Lebanon in 1995 and has been showing his collection in Paris during Paris’s official fashion week, for more than 10 years. Hobeika is acknowledged through the “Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture” as an invited member.
On the 19th of December, 2012 Georges Hobeika received worldwide recognition after the former Miss USA Olivia Culpo was named Miss Universe 2012. Culpo was awarded the title in the Georges Hobeika gown for the finale evening gown portion of the contest. This marked the very first occasion that a couture gown , which debuted at the Paris Couture Week was worn in the contest.
Hobeika was born in Baskinta, a village in the mountains of Lebanon, and was one of eight siblings. His mother, Marie, was a seamstress and encouraged her children to assist her in her boutique atelier. Hobeika particularly liked his mother’s vocation and pursued it as a passionate hobby.
In 2010 Georges Hobeika opened a showroom in Paris. Also, Hobeika opened a second production facility devoted exclusively to the Signature as well as GH from Georges Hobeika line.
