John Peel Biography

John Peel is one of the most popular and richest Writer who was born on January 24, 1954 in Heswall, England, United Kingdom. John Peel (born 1954) is an British writer who is popular for his TV tie-in novels to series and novelisations. He has written under various pseudonyms, such as “John Vincent” and “Nicholas Adams”. Peel lives on Long Island, New York. His wife is also a US resident, Peel continues to travel with his British passport.

A close friend of TV creator Terry Nation, Peel wrote novelizations of various Doctor Who stories for Target Books with Nation’s Daleks and is believed to be among the few authors who were willing to write such novels considering the substantial proportion of the author’s fees that Nation’s agents demanded in exchange for the right to use the Daleks. In the same vein, Peel is one of the few novelists who use Daleks in Daleks in full-length authentic Doctor Who novels, examples of which are War of the Daleks (1997) and Legacy of the Daleks (1998) that was created to be part of The BBC Books Eighth Doctor Adventures series. The two novels were not particularly loved by people who were fans of the series partly due to Peel’s revisions of Dalek story as told in the television series (in particular, the demise of Skaro in the 1988 series Remembrance of the Daleks) to bring their storyline more in the vision of Nation.

All of them were published through Puffin Books in 1992 under the pen name “John Vincent”.
