Luis Rubiales is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on August 23, 1977 in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain. He is known for being not a skilled player, but a determined one. He only played in 53 La Liga matches over three years. Pundonor (Courage) was his nickname.
Rubiales, who was already a retired coach, was elected president of AFE in March 2010. In November 2017, he quit his position to run for office at Royal Spanish Football Federation. He was elected president of the Federation in May 2018. Julen Lopetegui, Spain’s head coach, was fired by Rubiales in his first action. The latter had not informed him that he was in negotiations to be the manager of Real Madrid.
He signed a one-year contract with Hamilton Academical, a Scottish Premier League team. He left the club after three league appearances, four of which were official.
On 8 September 2018, Rubiales gave an interview in which he criticised the Spanish League president Javier Tebas for signing a contract that would see matches being played in the United States. The former explained that the deal was “worthless” without the Spanish Federation’s approval.
