Winston Bennett is one of the most popular and richest Basketball Player who was born on February 9, 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. After being red-shirted in 1986-87 to heal a knee problem, Bennett was captain of the team and scored 15.2 scores and 7.8 rebound per game as an senior in the next season, winning All-SEC distinctions. Along with teammate and upcoming NBA athlete Rex Chapman, Bennett helped to lead the Wildcats during the season to their 37th SEC championship, with a record of 27-6. The Wildcats were placed as the 6th best NCAA basketball squad in the United States according to UPI and the Associated Press and UPI and were awarded the top Southeast Conference seed in the 1988 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament. Kentucky’s talent allowed them to reach their final Sweet Sixteen, where they were defeated by Villanova.

After his professional playing career ended, Bennett served as an assistant coach under Rick Pitino at the University of Kentucky from 1995 to 1997 and, later, under Pitino, with the Boston Celtics, during the 1997–98 NBA season.

In 1996, while an assistant at Kentucky, the Wildcats won the NCAA Championship, defeating Syracuse, 76–67. The following season, UK finished as the runner-up, losing to Arizona in the championship game, 84–79.

In the following season Bennett averaged 7.2 points over nearly 20 minutes of play to aid in bringing UK reach make it to the Western Regional Semi-Finals. In 1985-86, the junior season, Bennett was named to the All-NCAA Regional Team and the SEC All-Conference Team after averaging 12.7 points and seven Rebounds per game. In the first year of Coach Eddie Sutton, Bennett shot over 50 percent from the field. He was instrumental in leading his team of Wildcats to a 32-4 mark.

A standout of Louisville Male High School, Bennett was named “Mr. Basketball” for the State of Kentucky in 1983. Bennett also received Parade Magazine All-American and McDonald’s All-America awards, and shared the MVP award with Dwayne Washington.

The 6-foot, 7-inch Bennett was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the third round (64th overall) of the 1988 NBA draft and went on to play three seasons in the NBA, mainly for the Cavaliers, from 1989 to 1992. Prior to his stint in the NBA, Bennett spent 1988 playing with the Italian club Teorema Arese before joining the Pensacola Tornados of the Continental Basketball Association during the 1988–89 season. His best year as a pro came during his rookie season with the Cavaliers when he appeared in 55 games and averaged 6.1 points per game.
